Field Representative

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Field Representative to join our Undergraduate Admissions team at Southern Illinois University. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting outreach and recruitment efforts to undergraduate students in the Chicagoland area, with a focus on increasing yield and managing assigned territories.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct outreach and recruitment to undergraduate students, including managing assigned territories and developing working relationships with counselors, counseling staff, advisors, and key stakeholders.
- Advise and inform prospective students, parents, school counselors, and the public about SIU Carbondale, including its academic programs, admission requirements, and financial aid opportunities.
- Develop and implement recruitment plans and targets for each school, college, and territory, in collaboration with leadership.
- Systematically follow up with students within an individual territory, using email, phone, mail, and social media to maintain contact and provide support.
- Access and retrieve student data from various systems, including Banner, Slate, Degree Works, and Navigate, to use during appointments, phone calls, or other inquiries.
- Record school visits and college fairs into the Undergraduate Admissions CRM and calendar system.
- Assist students in gaining a basic understanding of the College's admission requirements, registration process, and other processes that need to be completed by the student.
- Develop a knowledge base of all facets of the university, including degree requirements, prerequisites, and University Core Curriculum requirements.
- Assist students in interpreting and understanding placement scores, program curricula, and prerequisites.
- Assist admitted students with registration and record interactions in Slate.
- Coordinate with advisors regarding scheduling questions and clarification.
- Teach students how to use Banner Self-Registration and Degree Works as a degree audit tool.
- Provide financial planning support for admitted students.
- Assist in coordination of special events, including on-campus Open Houses, off-campus previews, and off-campus advisement and registration dates.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with 1 year of experience in higher education, community-based organization, sales, customer service, or closely related professional setting.
- Ability to travel regularly and load and transport admissions material, displays, and other recruiting equipment.
- Evening and weekend hours required.
- Strong public speaking skills and ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
- Experience working with diverse populations and valid driver's license.
