We are seeking a skilled American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter to join our team at Soliant. The successful candidate will provide high-quality interpretation services in educational settings, ensuring effective communication for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language into ASL and vice versa, conveying content and intent accurately and maintaining confidentiality.
- Facilitate communication between students and teachers, ensuring equal access to academic instruction and activities.
- Collaborate with educators to develop strategies for improving communication and inclusion for students.
- Stay updated on current trends and practices related to ASL interpretation and deaf culture.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records related to interpreting services.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in American Sign Language or a related field.
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL).
- EIPA score, RID or NIC certification.
- Experience working as an ASL interpreter in an educational setting is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, teachers, and staff.
