Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Assistant to join our team at the Georgia Department of Public Health. As a Laboratory Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting the laboratory team in the processing and testing of specimens. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, contributing to the protection of public health in Georgia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receives and accesses specimens in the Central Accessioning specimen processing area.
  • Processes all specimens that arrive during the day, correlating patient identifying information on specimen with that on the requisition form.
  • Visually inspects all specimens to determine acceptability for further processing or testing.
  • Accurately affixes the same accession number on the specimen its accompanying requisition form.
  • Ensures that the specimen requisition form is stamped with the appropriate time and date.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED and two years of related experience.
  • Or one year of experience required at the lower level Laboratory Aide 2 (LSS011) or position equivalent.
