EchoStar Corporation, a leading global provider of satellite communication solutions, is seeking an Information Security Specialist to support its government customers. Located at our headquarters in Germantown, MD, this role will be responsible for developing, overseeing, and maintaining the internal Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) program.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain CUI policies, processes, and procedures to meet NIST 800-171 Compliance requirements.
  • Provide security management education, training, and awareness to staff.
  • Track training completion for onboarding and annual training.
  • Conduct CUI self-assessments and provide results to the Facility Security Officer.
  • Manage periodic reviews of CUI policies, processes, and procedures to ensure they are current and followed by staff.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for information classification.
  • Ensure staff follow established security policies and procedures for classifying information.
  • Manage the inventory of controlled unclassified information.
  • Oversee and coordinate labeling of CUI documents and perform routine inspections and incident response.
  • Implement all security requirements for DoD and IC programs under purview to ensure compliance with the National Industrial Security Program (NISP) and relevant DoD and IC policies and directives.
Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and/or minimum of 5 years of security experience in roles with progressive responsibilities.
  • Must be a U.S. Person (e.g., U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, U.S. National or a protected individual under 8 U.S.C 1324b(a)(3)) as position requires access to U.S. export-restricted materials.
  • Must have at least 3 years of overall experience supporting data security or records management.
  • Must have at least 2 years of supporting CUI programs.
  • Monday through Friday work schedule.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Top Secret security clearance.
  • Facility Security Officer experience.
  • Experience supporting the Department of Defense.
  • Able to think logically and analytically in a problem-solving environment.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Requires exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Capacity to gain a thorough knowledge of the relevant specialty area.
  • Working knowledge of current government-mandated cybersecurity policies and procedures.

The estimated salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year.
