Maintenance I Position Overview

The Maintenance I position is a key role within the Experimental Aircraft Association, Inc. (EAA) team, responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to general maintenance, repairs, and grounds work. This position requires a high level of initiative, good judgment, and attention to detail to ensure the maintenance of high standards and well-maintained facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform general maintenance and repairs on property maintained by EAA, including plumbing fixtures, cabinetry hardware, mechanical equipment, and displays.
  • Support departmental maintenance programs and execute daily, weekly, and monthly checklists.
  • Assist with event preparations and takedown activities, including AirVenture and other special events.
  • Conduct cleaning duties, including upkeep of floors, surfaces, fixtures, displays, and operational buildings and equipment.
  • Perform various landscaping tasks, including lawn cutting and trimming, tree and shrub removal, and flower planting.
  • Assist outside contractors with various construction projects and lead volunteers on tasks and projects.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 or more years of work experience in building and general maintenance practices, standard tools and power tools, carpentry and painting, mowing the lawn and planting, and cleaning.
  • Valid driver's license; CDL is a plus.
  • Basic geometry and arithmetic.
  • Basic computer skills of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work varying schedules and weekends as needed.
Physical Requirements:

The Maintenance I position requires the ability to perform manual labor, lift up to 75 lbs occasionally, stand and walk for extended periods, and work above ground on irregular surfaces. The position may also involve exposure to outside weather elements, noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, gases, pesticides, and/or fertilizers.
