Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Building Mechanical Inspector to join our team in the City of Louisville, KY. As a key member of our Codes and Regulations department, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with state codes and local ordinances in residential and commercial buildings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect residential and commercial buildings to ensure compliance with building and mechanical codes, land development codes, and local ordinances.
  • Review building plans for compliance with building and mechanical codes, land development codes, and local ordinances.
  • Issue violation notices and certificates of occupancy, and prepare inspection reports.
  • Provide technical assistance and instruction to the public on building codes, regulations, and permit requirements.
  • Investigate and resolve complaints of violations of building and mechanical codes and local ordinances.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of experience in a responsible, directly-related construction position, such as a foreman or lead man, which required the ability to effectively read and interpret building and mechanical plans and specifications.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Must be certified as a One and Two Family Dwelling Inspector in the State of Kentucky or obtain within six months of employment.
  • Must be certified as a Building Inspector, Level I, in the State of Kentucky or obtain within 12 months of employment.
  • Must be certified as a Building Inspector, Level II, in the State of Kentucky or obtain within 18 months of employment.
