Program Overview

The Advanced Practice Immersion Program at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is a comprehensive training program designed for Nurse Practitioners to develop their skills in a dynamic and supportive environment. As a participant in this program, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced healthcare professionals and gain hands-on experience in a variety of clinical settings.

Responsibilities

As a Nurse Practitioner Fellow, you will be responsible for participating in the APP Clinical Immersion program educational curriculum, completing post-tests and evaluations as a measure of competence, and participating in your own professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs, and seeking appropriate educational offerings. You will also be responsible for utilizing advanced assessment skills to support the management of a cohort of patients, performing and documenting daily assessments, and communicating the plan of care and potential changes to this plan to the supervising physician and assigned hospital provider.

Requirements

To be eligible for this program, you must have a Bachelor's Degree, a Master's Degree in Nursing, and be a Registered Nurse in the state of Pennsylvania. You must also have a Primary Care Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner certification or be willing to obtain one. Additionally, you must be able to work in a team setting with multiple responsibilities, use a computer and electronic medical records effectively, and demonstrate a commitment to patient safety by speaking up about safety issues and changing practices to enhance safety.

Additional Information

As a condition of employment, CHOP employees who work in patient care buildings or who have patient-facing responsibilities must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and receive an annual influenza vaccine. Employees may request exemptions for valid religious and medical reasons. Start dates may be delayed until candidates are immunized or exemption requests are reviewed.
