Phlebotomy Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Phlebotomy Specialist to join our team at Prisma Health's OB/GYN Center. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient collection of patient specimens.
Job SummaryThis is a part-time (PRN) position working days. In this role, you will collect specimens from patients, access samples into computer systems for accurate testing and billing, and obtain signed documents as needed. You will also perform Point of Care testing and sample processing if assigned.
Responsibilities- Collections of specimens from patients, following established standards and practices.
- Accessioning of samples into computer systems for accurate testing and billing.
- Obtaining of signed documents as needed.
- Performance of Point of Care testing and sample processing if assigned.
- Proper labeling of specimens with required information.
- Verification of patient identification.
- Organization and prioritization of tasks, utilizing time efficiently.
- Uses correct technique, policy, and protocol in collection and process of all specimens.
- Verifies identification of patient and specimen.
- Inputs and assesses information via hospital and laboratory computer systems accurately and timely.
- Takes appropriate action as needed.
- Follows safety procedures and responds correctly and immediately to safety violations and safety drills.
- Reports and documents personal exposure to hazardous or infectious situations.
To be considered for this role, you must have a High School diploma or equivalent OR post-high school diploma/highest degree earned. Additionally, 3 months of training in phlebotomy certification or previous phlebotomy experience/training in formal programs which include phlebotomy are required.
Estimated Salary$40,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience.
