Recreation Therapist

We are seeking a skilled Recreation Therapist to join our team at East Boston Neighborhood Health Center. As a Recreation Therapist, you will work with participants to restore motor, social, and cognitive functioning, build confidence, and develop coping skills.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a monthly calendar of recreation activities that meet the mental, physical, and psycho-social needs of participants.
- Ensure that activities schedules include a variety of meaningful activities that match individual interests and functional needs.
- Collaborate with Occupational Therapists to ensure group activities programs are consistent with participants' level of cognitive, motor, balance, and other functional statuses.
- Plan, attend, and organize outings and field trips to community events and incorporate them into activities calendars.
- Train personal care assistants in new activities and assign them to activity and personal care responsibilities consistent with individual competencies and roles.
- Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to clearly and concisely communicate with culturally and educationally diverse participants, families, and staff.
- Computer literacy and ability to utilize various computer programs to document and communicate clinical and non-clinical information.
- Ability to supervise and develop direct care staff.
We offer a competitive salary range of $24.15 to $36.22 depending on experience, as well as opportunities for professional growth and development.
