About the Role

The Tufts University Strategic Communications Manager will develop and recommend a communications strategy that promotes the goals, values, and mission of the school or division.

This is a grant-funded position and is not eligible for severance pay.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops and oversees high-quality, effective materials and messaging, including researching and writing effective communications pieces.
  • Creates design and layout of publications and develops and implements communications and marketing plans and projects.
  • Evaluates and reports on the effectiveness of communications strategies and makes decisions on changes or improvements.
  • Manages the communications budget, hires, and trains communications staff, including consultants and vendors.
  • Works with university-wide committees and work groups and provides public relations support and planning for the school or division.

Essential Functions

  • Researches and writes high-quality, effective communications materials that support communications projects and strategies for the school or division.
  • Creates design and layout of publications that reinforce brand and message strategy.
  • Oversees the development of design and content for the website, ensuring a compelling website appeal and working with the web developer on enhancements.
  • Develops and oversees content for social media communications, evaluates effectiveness, and makes decisions about improvements and new initiatives.
  • Presents reports on overall communications strategies, evaluates results, and proposes future directions and strategies.
  • Hires, trains, and oversees professional and support staff, students, and temporary workers.
  • Manages budgets and manages hiring, evaluation, and oversight of outside vendors and consultants.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area of study and 5-7 years of professional communications experience.
  • Advanced degree and experience in education or a non-profit setting are preferred.

Pay Range

Minimum $85,650.00, Midpoint $107,150.00, Maximum $128,600.00

Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
