Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at Sonesta Hotels. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our properties by performing routine maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver exceptional service to our guests and colleagues by maintaining a clean and safe environment.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including but not limited to, replacing ceiling tiles, filters, light bulbs, and patching vinyl.
  • Complete work orders and perform preventative maintenance duties as assigned.
  • Monitor and maintain the efficiency of equipment and electrical systems, including air conditioning controls, guest entrance/access doors, television sets, and lighting systems.
  • Refurbish furniture and fixtures, including cabinets, tables, chairs, doors, windows, and counters.
  • Maintain the safety and cleanliness of the exterior of the facility, grounds, pool, and exercise/sport facilities.
  • Follow procedures to ensure the security of inventory and assets, including tools, supplies, equipment, furniture, televisions, etc.
  • Maintain the front entrance area, parking lot, and street entrance in a clean and presentable manner.
  • Ensure that assigned equipment is prepared and operational for the following day's work.
  • Perform maintenance and repair work on the interior and exterior of buildings, hotel rooms, and contents, laundry and kitchen/refrigeration equipment, lighting, heating, air conditioning (HVAC), ventilation, and water treatment systems, and swimming pool (if applicable).
  • Perform preventive maintenance as outlined in the PM Works program, including inspecting buildings, furniture, bathrooms, guest rooms, and equipment to ensure proper function and efficiency.
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local laws regarding health and safety services.
Requirements
  • Advanced vocational training plus two years of experience in general building maintenance or construction, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous background from the extended stay industry or apartment building maintenance preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic plumbing, carpentry, electricity, and equipment mechanics.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English; other languages beneficial.
  • Reading and writing abilities required to receive instructions and read equipment manuals.
  • Mathematical skills, including basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances.
  • Problem-solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational, and training abilities.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Frequently standing, bending, climbing, kneeling, and moving about the facility.
  • Frequently handling objects and equipment to maintain the facility.
  • Will be required to regularly use commercial chemicals.
  • Carrying, lifting, or pulling items weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Will be required to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
