Dance Studio Instructor

Job Overview:

The Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City is seeking a qualified Dance Studio Instructor - Performing Arts Educator to join our team.

Estimated Salary: $25-$40 per hour, depending on experience.

Job Description:

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced dance instructor to teach a variety of classes for preschool, beginners, intermediate, and advanced students in performing arts skills. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dance, acrobatic arts, and teaching experience working with students of different ages and skill levels.

Responsibilities:

• 
  
• Maintain a safe and fun learning environment.
  
• Teach and demonstrate the appropriate skills and curriculum for age levels and skill levels.
  
• Choreograph and teach recital dances when needed.
  
• Communicate important information with parents and guardians.
  
• Be prepared and dressed to reflect a positive image of the Jewish Community Center.
  
• Have the classroom set up and ready for each lesson.
  
• Communicate with supervisors about any problems or concerns in the classroom.
  

Requirements:

• 
  
• Multiple years of training in performing arts, including ballet, acrobatic arts, tap, jazz, hip hop, and/or lyrical technique.
  
• B.F.A. or other degree related to the area of teaching preferred, but not required.
  
• Experience working with acrobatic arts is a plus.
  
• Experience teaching a variety of ages and skill levels.
  
• Ability to provide exemplary customer service to students and their parents/guardians.
  
• Willingness to communicate openly with other staff members, collaborate on performances, and occasionally sub classes.
  
• Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students of all ages and abilities.
  

Physical Requirements:

• 
  
• This job is physically active and requires constant standing, walking, movement, and body coordination to demonstrate skills.
  
• Constant talking and hearing to communicate with students and parents/guardians.
  
• Frequent stooping/crouching and crawling.
  
• Occasional lifting up to 45 pounds.
