Guardianship Attorney

Greater Bakersfield Legal Assistance, Inc. (GBLA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting social change and justice by providing high-quality legal services to the low-income community in Kern County, California.

We are seeking a skilled Guardianship Attorney to join our team and work collaboratively in the guardianship unit under the direct supervision of the Director of Litigation, Division C.

• Assist caregivers in obtaining guardianship over children to prevent further exposure to domestic violence, child abuse, and neglect.
• Provide high-quality legal services to low-income individuals and families in Kern County.
• Collaborate with colleagues to achieve the organization's mission and goals.
• Stay up-to-date with California guardianship law and best practices.

• Active membership in the State Bar of California or eligibility to become a Registered Legal Aid Attorney.
• Extensive knowledge and experience with California guardianship law.
• Exceptional analytical, organizational, and writing skills.
• Strong oral and written communication abilities.
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is strongly preferred.

• Competitive salary range of $90,000 - $104,000 annually.
