Heavy Equipment Technician

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team at MacAllister Machinery. As a Heavy Equipment Technician, you will be responsible for performing mechanical services on new and used heavy equipment in our service shop area, with a focus on pavers, transfer machines, and cold planers.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair equipment in the service shop
- Complete all required reporting for service time in an accurate and efficient manner
- Maintain customer satisfaction by understanding customer needs and deadlines
- Maintain company issued equipment and tools, keeping them in good working order
Requirements
- 3-5 years of mechanical experience with heavy equipment, preferably with Caterpillar
- Strong working knowledge of hydraulics, power train, and electrical systems
- Solid understanding of work area metrics and ability to improve metrics and results
- Good problem solving skills and ability to identify problems, solicit other's opinions, and offer valid solutions
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of 6 Sigma principles and ability to contribute to the workplace
- Ability to operate industry specific PC and main frame programs
- Basic understanding of MS Word, Excel, and database systems
