Job Overview

The State of Florida seeks a Nurse Care Provider to provide quality care to residents in the Robert H. Jenkins State Domiciliary Veterans' Home.

Salary and Benefits
$49,960.77 per year, paid bi-weekly, with an excellent retirement package and optional deferred compensation plan. Health, vision, dental, disability, and other supplemental insurance available at reasonable premium rates. Paid vacation and sick leave. Nine (9) paid holidays and personal day. Tuition waiver available for State Universities and Community Colleges (up to 6 credits per semester).

Job Description
This position is responsible for providing administrative support through established nursing standards, individualized care plans, and interdisciplinary teamwork according to local and FDVA policies and procedures. The incumbent will perform assigned duties, including medication administration, monitoring resident needs, and supervising CNA and other supportive caregivers. Key responsibilities include:
  1. Reports to the Nursing Supervisor
  2. Provides administrative support that is technical in nature through established nursing standards, the individualized care plan, and interdisciplinary teamwork according to established local and FDVA policies and procedures.
  3. Coordinates shift assignments to team members, providing supervision of licensed and unlicensed staff and follow-up to ensure completion of assignments.
  4. Provide assistance with all aspects of resident care, treatments, self-administration of medications, coordinating medical appointments, and spending time in social interactions with residents each shift worked.
  5. Report resident concerns and needs promptly to the appropriate team member.
  6. Assist with monitoring and accountability of residents to enable medical personnel to accomplish health-related tasks.
  7. Follow Resident's Rights policies at all times and maintain confidentiality of resident information.
  8. Consistently work cooperatively and respectfully with residents, family or resident representatives, facility staff, physicians, ARNP's, consultants, and ancillary service providers to assist residents to achieve maximum abilities, safety, and promote happiness.
  9. Document services and care plan outcomes appropriately within the facility software/database.
  10. Participate in staff development and orientation of new personnel.
  11. Attends all in-service programs, training classes, and domiciliary meetings. Assumes responsibility and accountability for information contained in the Employee Handbook.
  12. Observe all facility safety, infection control, risk management, HIPAA policies.
  13. Performs other related duties as required.


Requirements and Qualifications
To be eligible for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
  • Licensure in Florida as Practical Nurse.
  • Must possess a current CPR certification.
  • Must be willing and able to work weekends and holidays as required.
  • Must be willing and able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English: reading, speaking, and writing.
  • Must be willing and able to work 11:30pm-8:00am.
  • Successful completion of the due diligence process to include, but not limited to, a Level II background check and drug test.


Preferred Qualifications
Experience in long-term care or 120 bed skilled nursing facility is preferred. Knowledgeable in the use of Microsoft Office software, including Excel, Outlook, and Word. Experience with Electronic Medical Records is also beneficial.
