Job Summary

This is a 12-month contract opportunity with Saxon Global. The role is 100% remote, and we welcome applicants with all visa types, excluding H1/OPT. The hiring process will involve a Microsoft Teams interview.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior MongoDB Database Administrator, you will be responsible for designing, configuring, and monitoring large-scale database systems, including relational databases, NoSQL, and in-memory databases. You will work closely with database administrators and data engineers across the organization to achieve this goal.

Requirements

5+ years of experience as a MongoDB DBA is essential. Experience with MariaDB/MySQL is desirable. You should have strong knowledge and experience in installing, configuring, and upgrading MongoDB databases, as well as general administration. Additionally, you should be familiar with Ops Manager, schema design, performance tuning, query optimization, backup solutions, replica sets, and managing MongoDB Oplog and journals. Designing indexing strategies and sharding, including choosing a good shard key, balancer, moving chunks, and zoning shards with pre-split chunks, is also crucial. Debugging skills and the ability to troubleshoot methodically, identifying and applying fixes for known errors, and thinking outside the box to resolve complex issues are essential. Scripting/automation tooling experience, particularly with bash, python, and Ansible, is a must. You should also be experienced in CI/CD, DevOps using tools like Udeploy, JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins, and Git. Familiarity with Datadog and integration with ServiceNow is a plus. Knowledge of working with REST APIs and the ability to read documentation and make calls to read or write data using APIs is also desirable. Experience with containerization technologies like ECS and Docker is a plus.

Desirable Skills

Experience with trending cloud solutions, particularly AWS, is highly desirable. You should be familiar with AWS EC2, CFT, Route53, and RDS. Experience or subject knowledge in Redis and Elasticsearch is also desirable. A clear understanding of query planning is essential. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in both oral and written English are required. You should be adept at version control tools like GIT Stash and build tools like Maven. Experience in working with different kinds of hosted infrastructure is a plus. The ability to learn new concepts and technologies in strict timelines is essential. You should be adaptable in a changing environment and effective in many different business settings. Experience with cloud data warehousing and data lake solutions is a plus.
