Job Description

Capitol City Residential Health Care is seeking a skilled Developmental Therapist to join our team of professionals dedicated to providing comprehensive early intervention services to infants and toddlers with developmental delays or disabilities. As a Developmental Therapist, you will play a vital role in assessing developmental needs, creating individualized intervention plans, and delivering therapies to support the child's cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development.

Responsibilities:

  • Assessment and Evaluation:
  • Conduct comprehensive developmental assessments to identify delays or disabilities in infants and toddlers.
  • Develop individualized family service plans (IFSP) based on assessment results.
  • Monitor and evaluate the child's progress and adjust interventions as necessary.
  • Intervention Planning and Implementation:
  • Develop and implement tailored intervention strategies to address the specific developmental needs of each child.
  • Use evidence-based practices to enhance developmental outcomes in areas such as motor skills, communication, cognitive abilities, and social-emotional development.
  • Incorporate play-based and family-centered approaches to engage children and caregivers in the intervention process.
  • Family Support and Education:
  • Collaborate with families to understand their goals and priorities for their child's development.
  • Provide education and training to parents and caregivers on strategies to support their child's development at home.
  • Offer emotional support and resources to families to help them navigate the early intervention process.
  • Collaboration and Coordination:
  • Work closely with other early intervention professionals, including speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and special educators.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
  • Communicate effectively with TEIS service coordinators and other stakeholders to facilitate service delivery.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assessments, IFSPs, progress notes, and other relevant documentation.
  • Prepare and submit required reports and documentation in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with TEIS policies, procedures, and documentation standards.
  • Professional Development:
  • Stay current with the latest research and best practices in developmental therapy and early intervention.
  • Attend professional development workshops, conferences, and training sessions.
  • Participate in regular supervision and peer review activities to enhance professional skills.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Developmental Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience working with infants and toddlers with developmental delays or disabilities, preferably within an early intervention setting such as TEIS.
  • Certifications/Licenses: Appropriate state licensure or certification in the relevant field (e.g., Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Speech-Language Pathologist, Special Education Teacher).
