Medical Assistant

Job Summary:
As a Medical Assistant at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a Physician and/or Designee. Your primary responsibilities will include interviewing patients, measuring vital signs, and recording information in patient medical records.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interview patients and measure vital signs and other pertinent information as required by the department.
- Record information in patient medical records.
- Prepare treatment rooms and patients for examination.
- Assist clinicians with patient care.
- Inventories, orders, and replenishes medical supplies and materials.
- Administers medications, including injections, as required by the department.
- Cleans, processes, sterilizes, and checks instruments.
- Performs computer data entry functions.
- Performs clinical/technical skills specific to the department.
Customer Service:
You will practice customer service standards as defined by Kaiser Permanente and specified by the department. This includes anticipating customer needs, taking proactive steps to meet those needs, and listening and taking responsibility within scope to ensure issues are resolved.
Team Commitment:
You will be an effective team member who is flexible, cooperative, and willing to assist others. You will manage difficult or conflict situations constructively and seek appropriate assistance. You will take accountability for your actions and act as a resource and mentor to new employees, students, and other team members.
Basic Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum six (6) months of experience or successful completion of Kaiser Permanente externship.
- Education: High School Diploma/GED.
- License, Certification, Registration: Basic Life Support.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend medical information.
- Ability to effectively present information, both verbal and written.
- Must be willing to work in a Labor Management Partnership environment.
- Demonstrated ability to use personal computer.
- Medical Terminology Certificate or equivalent experience.
