This job opportunity allows you to collaborate with a talented team to ensure patient safety and deliver high-quality basic patient care under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. You will be responsible for observing patients closely, notifying nursing personnel of any changes in behavior or status, and intervening as needed to maintain patient safety. Effective communication with colleagues, patients, families, and visitors is also essential. Additionally, you will perform all functions delegated by the nursing staff and adhere to established policies and procedures.

Requirements and Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you will need to meet the following requirements:
  • A High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Hospital and telemetry experience are preferred.
  • You must hold a Current Louisiana Certification as a Nurses' Assistant (CNA).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Key Skills and Abilities
This position requires proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary to present information clearly and professionally to various levels of individuals throughout the patient care process. Strong organizational and time management skills are also required, as well as the ability to work a flexible schedule, including 24/7, weekends, holidays, and on-call availability.

Job Responsibilities
Your primary duties will include supporting the plan of care as delegated by the staff nurse within the scope of your verified skills. Maintaining a clean and safe environment in the patient care area is crucial, as is providing care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to the ages of patients served in assigned areas. Effective communication with patients, families, and other staff members, including multi-disciplinary teams, is essential. You will also complete documentation of patient-related tasks and adapt your behavior to meet the specific needs of each patient population.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
This role involves working in a patient care area, interacting with patients, and potentially being exposed to blood, body fluids, and tissues. As an incumbent, you may be at risk for occupational exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous medications or waste. We strive to maintain a safe and healthy work environment and follow established protocols to minimize risks.

Compensation
The estimated salary range for this role is $35,000-45,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
