About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Senior Mortgage Lender to join our team at Civista Bank. This is a dynamic opportunity for a professional with expertise in mortgage lending, sales, and customer relationships.

Job Responsibilities
  • Originate first mortgage loans by soliciting business from referral partners, such as realtors, builders, financial planners, insurance agents, and attorneys.
  • Meet with customers and prospective clients at various locations, including their homes and offices.
  • Prepare and submit loan applications, ensuring all necessary documentation is obtained according to bank policies and underwriting guidelines.
  • Inform clients about bank underwriting policies and relevant government regulations.
  • Screen loan requests based on bank policies and available loan types.
  • Present various loan options to clients and explain the benefits of each.
  • Stay informed about new legislation and regulations affecting residential lending policies and ensure compliance.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, addressing complex approvals or denials, and communicating effectively with clients, real estate agents, and builders.
  • Distribute market data, rate information, and general loan details to the real estate community as directed by management.
  • Participate in the bank's special credit programs and other Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) initiatives.
Requirements
  • A minimum of five years of experience in mortgage lending within a financial institution or loan office setting.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Finance, or three years of equivalent work experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of banking practices, policies, regulations, and laws related to mortgage lending.
  • Strong understanding of bank compliance requirements and Fair Lending laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in using computer software, including Microsoft Office, with excellent data entry skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize projects, and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
Salary and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience. Additionally, we provide a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) matching, and paid time off.

Work Environment

This role requires frequent travel to meet with clients, attend meetings, and participate in training sessions. You must be able to lift and move loan files weighing up to 15 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment with varying levels of distractions.
