Deputy County Clerk

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Deputy County Clerk to join our team at Ingham County, MI. As a key member of our office, you will be responsible for processing and recording vital records, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring the accuracy and confidentiality of sensitive information.

• Process and record vital records, including births, deaths, marriages, and other documents
• Provide assistance to customers at the counter, by phone, and via email, responding to inquiries and resolving issues
• Assist with the preparation of reports for other governmental agencies and process and file various documents, including County Contracts and Purchase Orders
• Scanning and filing physical vital records to electronic media for later ease of review and provision of certified copies
• Count and balance till daily, including cash, checks, debit and credit card transactions

• Bachelor's degree required; related experience preferred
• Minimum of two years' experience as a Deputy Clerk or equivalent experience
• Ability to be commissioned and serve as a Notary Public
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines

This position works in an indoor environment with no planned exposure to prominent lights, noises, odors, temperatures, or weather conditions.

The physical requirements of this position include sitting, standing, walking, twisting, bending, stooping/crouching, squatting, kneeling, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, grasping, handling, pinching, typing, and enduring repetitive movements of the wrists, hands, or fingers.

The ability to communicate and respond to inquiries both in person and over the phone is also required.

This position requires the ability to operate a PC/laptop and to enter and retrieve information from a computer.

The ability to handle varying and often high levels of stress is also required.
