Essential Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement comprehensive curricula that cater to the diverse needs and interests of our students, aligning with learning foundations that promote positive child development.
  • Create and maintain safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environments that encourage creativity, exploration, and growth.
  • Build strong relationships with families, communities, and schools by providing exceptional customer service and support.
  • Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, prioritizing their health, safety, and well-being.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement effective programs, share best practices, and foster a culture of professionalism and respect.

Work Environment and Expectations:

  • Maintain a positive and respectful attitude towards children, families, and colleagues.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy environment by adhering to established guidelines and protocols.
  • Be punctual, reliable, and present on a regular basis, as scheduled.
  • Participate actively in outdoor and indoor programs, adapting to changing circumstances and requirements.
  • Demonstrate physical and mental ability to engage with children aged 5-13 years, meeting their needs and ensuring their safety.

Physical and Environmental Conditions:

  • Assess the environment for potential hazards, identify risks, and implement preventative measures to ensure child safety.
  • Be comfortable with occasional loud noise during outdoor activities.
  • Perform tasks requiring frequent bending, lifting, twisting, reaching, pushing, and pulling, handling objects up to 15 lbs.
  • Work in various weather conditions, indoors or outdoors, while maintaining a safe environment for children.
  • Traverse different terrains and heights, such as playgrounds, ladders, and grassy areas.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Educational requirements may vary depending on center needs and age group-specific units, such as Infant, Toddler, or School-Age programming.
  • A minimum of 24 post-secondary semester units in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field, along with 16 general education units, or an Associate's degree or higher in ECE, CD, or a related field from a nationally accredited college.
  • Teacher Permit or above issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience in a group care environment, where teaching and caregiving were provided for a consistent age group.
  • 1 year of experience supervising adults or equivalent adult supervision units.
  • Effective problem-solving, conflict resolution, classroom management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, maintain a professional team environment, and adapt to changing circumstances.
