Job Description:

The Radiologic Technologist II is responsible for delivering high-quality radiologic procedures for diagnostic interpretation. This role requires providing exceptional patient education, quality patient care, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform advanced imaging procedures in at least two modalities, demonstrating expertise and knowledge.
  • Practice radiation safety and adhere to ALARA standards to ensure patient and staff protection.
  • Verify patient pregnancy status and take necessary precautions to prevent radiation exposure.
  • Conduct quality control checks in accordance with manufacturer recommendations.
  • Operate equipment consistently with manufacturer guidelines.
  • Perform exams based on Imaging Department Protocols or protocols established by the Radiologist.
  • Assist with clerical duties, patient transportation, and answering phone calls as needed.
  • Train or cross-train imaging staff members as directed.
  • Complete equipment downtime forms and notify the manager of equipment issues.
  • Be flexible in rearranging work schedules to cover emergencies, illnesses, and vacations.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, using self-motivation and independent judgment.
  • Notify the Radiologist of STAT or emergent cases and provide ordering physician contact information.
  • Obtain informed consents when required and document medical history related to the patient and procedure.
  • Be a positive and supportive team member to all staff members.
  • Order, stock, and maintain supply inventory.
  • Submit written orders, registration documents, and required imaging forms to Health Information Management and the Radiologist.
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems and independently contact the service engineer for outside maintenance.
  • Verify exam orders, identify patients through two means of identification, and provide exam education.
  • Verify that all relevant paperwork is completed and prior studies are available before submitting procedures to the Radiologist for interpretation.
  • Work overtime as directed and take call as required.
  • May be required to obtain additional training or certification to meet departmental needs.
  • Assist or rotate to other imaging modalities as required and within the scope of held licensure and/or registry.
  • Be registered in at least two modalities.
  • Assist with taking call, working holidays, and/or weekends.

  • Strive to uphold regulatory requirements to ensure continual compliance with departmental, hospital, state, and federal regulations and policies.
