Low Voltage Solutions Architect

Job Summary:
The Low Voltage Solutions Architect plays a vital role in supporting the sales and projects teams at IES Communications by developing innovative designs and solutions for sales opportunities. This position acts as the project manager for design opportunities, working closely with other estimators to translate their designs into accurate cost estimates.
Main Responsibilities:
- The Low Voltage Solutions Architect will collaborate with the sales team to design low-voltage solutions for IES clients.
- Develop complete project designs, space layouts, select applicable materials, and define the basis for assigning and estimating labor. Write scope of work and develop cost estimates in response to bid specifications.
- Attend in-person or virtual design meetings with end-users or contractors. Track all site visits and maintain detailed records of site conditions for use in translating to cost estimates.
- Interface and manage project-specific CAD and BIM resources, both internal and subcontracted, to complete design drawing packages.
- Review drawings, RFPs, and other design work products for quality assurance to support IES and client design standards.
- Develop and graphically layout construction schedules with end-user and IES operational team input. Work with IES scheduling resources to build project schedules as needed.
- Serve as liaison between sales, project management, and operations when projects are turned over for installation. Confirm that sales prices and actual installation costs align.
- Follow Company guidelines on preferred vendor selection and product choices. Collaborate with vendors to obtain the best solution, most competitive price, and proper lead-time on materials.
- Provide floor plan takeoffs and project applications per Company's recommended solutions book and technical support personnel.
- E nsure all design work meets customer and Company quality and safety levels.
- Participate in training and review sessions on technical requirements per Company's training guidelines.
- Meet bid schedules and deadlines, operating within strict timeframes.
- Lead small groups of designers and cost estimators as needed.
Requirements:
- Must be self-motivated, positive, professional, and able to lead others to create, develop, and implement project process improvements.
- Promote the Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients, and business partners.
- Demonstrate proven problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills, and effective written and oral communication abilities.
- Show a high skill level in interpreting blueprints and other project documents, including specifications, reporting, and quality requirements.
- Ability to travel within the United States as needed.
- Able to learn Company and customer project management systems.
- Manage multiple projects/estimates and present a high level of organization.
Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED equivalency; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- RCDD, CTS-D, or other low voltage design credential strongly preferred.
- Low Voltage industry experience preferred.
- Able to manage multiple scopes.
- Experience in customer interface, such as liaison between customer and Company.
- Minimum 5 years of low-voltage Design experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in low voltage contracting or a related technical or construction field.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project).
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit strongly preferred.
- Meet Company minimum driving standards.
- Able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
- Proven ability to design, estimate, and develop a written and graphic representation of proposed solutions using software resources provided by the Company.
