About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Active Living Program Director to join our team at Merrill Gardens. As a key member of our community, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a diverse range of activities and programs that cater to the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Activity Development: Plan, coordinate, and participate in various social events and outings to create a vibrant and active community life for our residents.
  • Resident Engagement: Determine resident programming preferences, talents, and needs through regular feedback sessions, resident council meetings, and discussions with family members.
  • Community Outreach: Engage residents, families, and the external community in activities and volunteer opportunities that promote socialization, expand personal interests, and increase physical activity.
  • Partnerships and Collaborations: Align with external organizations, family members, and educational institutions to establish synergistic partnerships for the delivery of quality programs and volunteerism.
  • Program Evaluation and Improvement: Track resident activity participation and adjust calendar events accordingly, staying abreast of active aging and generational trends to enhance the community program.
  • Communication and Marketing: Develop community communications such as activities calendars, and assist in planning events that encourage prospective residents to participate in community activities.
  • Supervision and Management: Supervise Active Living Assistants and/or volunteers, manage monthly budgets for activity supplies, entertainment, food, and staffing as appropriate.
  • Training and Development: Participate in all in-service training and education programs as scheduled, and work with other department heads in planning and conducting orientation and in-service training.
Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma required, college degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience: Three years related experience, training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Senior Living Experience: Three years of social activity leadership preferred, with senior living experience preferred.
