Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our Design Engineering team at Roche Holdings Inc. in South San Francisco. As a key member of our team, you will provide technical leadership and accountability for mechanical engineering designs on capital projects and engineering services performed at our site and other locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical input and coordination in the mechanical engineering field, including design guidance on HVAC, piped utilities, plumbing, fire protection, building controls, automation, and energy management.
  • Support the execution of a portfolio of projects with technical input and technical coordination, including design guidance and technical options analysis.
  • Align and coordinate project designs with Roche/Genentech and site-specific standards, and coordinate the scope of small projects into a comprehensive strategy to address needs in the technical area across the site.
  • Lead a mechanical engineering design sub-team, including representatives of Alliance Partner engineering firms, Site Operations, SHE, and others, to develop strategies for upgrading deficient areas of the campus through the project portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain site-specific mechanical design standards, based on Roche/Genentech corporate standards, but customized for the South San Francisco site.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 15 years or more pharmaceutical technology experience in industry or academia after receiving their Bachelor's Degree, with at least 8 years of direct involvement in mechanical system design, construction, and/or commissioning.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical codes and mechanical design standards, including ANSI/ASHRAE, NEMA, NFPA, EPA, and OSHA standards, as well as relevant chemical industry-specific standards and documentation.
  • Experience with energy use reduction projects, pharmaceutical GMP project design, LEED/WELL/Fitwel certification, project management, LEAN/Six Sigma certification, and/or experience working in a campus environment.
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $139,000 - $258,100 USD Annual, based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
