Senior Speech Writer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Speech Writer to provide executive leadership with advisement and assistance in writing and developing communication materials aligned with organizational initiatives and priorities.

Responsibilities:

  • Experience writing speeches for senior defense and/or industry leaders.
  • Work directly with senior leaders to develop themes and messaging that aligns to and complements their speaking style.
  • Produce concise and properly edited products that clearly and logically convey complex information and ideas.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Art / Science degree in Communications.
  • Ten or more years of experience as a speechwriter.
  • Preferred military speechwriter (I or II level preferred) as demonstrated in applicant's portfolio / writing samples.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Strong knowledge of Navy and Defense issues and current events; as well as working knowledge of naval history, heritage and traditions.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time.
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically.

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level.
  • US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary range: $120,000 - $140,000 per year.
  • Medical, dental, vision, life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment, short/long-term disability, and 401(k) retirement plans.
  • Eligible part-time employees are able to participate in the 401(k) retirement plans and state or contract required paid time off programs.
