Mortgage Loan Processor Job Description

Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Mortgage Loan Processor to join our team at Kearny Bank. As a Mortgage Loan Processor, you will be responsible for processing 1st and 2nd mortgage loans in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and prioritize loan files daily to ensure timely processing.
  • Perform thorough reviews of income, credit, and asset documents to determine eligibility.
  • Initiate welcome calls and missing items letters within designated Service Level Agreements.
  • Complete agency income calculation forms accurately.
  • Order required services for the loan process, including flood certification and appraisal.
  • Provide follow-up support to originators, borrowers, and closing departments to complete processing.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding loan status.
  • Maintain accurate and complete continuing histories of loan files.
  • Re-disclose loans in compliance with applicable changed circumstances.
  • Gather necessary documentation and organize files for use by the department.
  • Send necessary documents, including disclosures and consumer explanation letters.
  • Correspond with borrowers, loan officers, and underwriters to resolve outstanding issues.
  • Maintain complete paperless files through the loan origination software.
  • Stay up-to-date on FHA, VA, and conventional guidelines and changes that may affect loan status.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Two to four years of related experience or equivalent.
  • Thorough knowledge of real estate documentation, policies, compliance, and procedures.
  • High level of proficiency with mortgage loan processing and underwriting systems.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • MS Office Suite proficiency.
  • Experience with Encompass preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
