Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Medical Coding Specialist to join our team at Nemours Children's Health. As a key member of our coding department, you will be responsible for assigning accurate codes to medical procedures and diagnoses using ICD-10 CM, CPT, HCPCS codes and modifiers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assign accurate codes to medical procedures and diagnoses using ICD-10 CM, CPT, HCPCS codes and modifiers
  • Participate in coding training and education to stay up-to-date with the latest coding guidelines and regulations
  • Communicate effectively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to resolve coding queries and provide education on coding practices
  • Meet productivity and accuracy standards for coding assignments
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines when handling patient information
Requirements
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist - Physician-based (CCS-P) certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in medical coding, preferably in an orthopedic surgery setting
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10 CM, CPT, HCPCS codes and modifiers
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
