Certified Nursing Assistant

Certified Nursing Assistants at Kent Hospital play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care. As a member of our post-surgical unit, you will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse to provide essential support services. Your primary function is to perform various patient care activities and related non-professional services to ensure patients' comfort and well-being.
As a Certified Nursing Assistant, your responsibilities will include providing general patient care, performing routine treatments and procedures as directed by the Registered Nurse, and assisting with personal hygiene to promote patients' comfort and well-being. You will also be responsible for checking and recording intake and output, taking and recording patients' vital signs and other measurements, and giving enemas, reinforcing simple non-sterile dressings, applying binders, collecting specimens, and performing other routine tasks.
You will work closely with the Registered Nurse to care for seriously ill patients or in complicated treatments or procedures. Additionally, you will assist in maintaining a safe and clean environment with well-stocked supplies and functioning equipment. Your attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate medical records will be crucial in this role.
The ideal candidate for this position should have vocational/technical training and more than six months of job-related experience or equivalent. A Rhode Island State Nursing Assistant license is also required. High School Diploma or equivalent, a minimum of 2 years of job-related experience, and basic computer skills are necessary for this role. The ability to read, write, and speak English is mandatory. Knowledge and experience of normal and modified diets and carbohydrate counting and protein exchange systems are preferred.
