About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Tax Accountant to join our team at The Friedkin Group. As a key member of our accounting team, you will be responsible for preparing and reviewing federal and state income and franchise tax returns for all affiliated companies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review tax returns, including gathering and analyzing financial information and tax rules to calculate tax adjustments
  • Read tax form instructions to ensure that all information is reported correctly
  • Prepare supporting work papers and maintain tax files
  • Prepare tax returns and review them for accuracy
  • Download computerized general ledger information into Excel spreadsheets and convert the data into the form necessary to transfer data to tax return preparation software
  • Process tax returns and prepare data requests for third-party providers
  • Analyze tax items for reporting and communicate with accounting personnel and controllers to resolve any questions or issues that arise through data analysis
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly taxable income estimates and year-end basis calculations for all companies
  • Research issues relating to taxation of various entities and shareholders
  • Assist with the annual and quarterly ASC 740 tax provision, including gathering and analyzing source data
  • Assist accountants in the review of categorization and coordination of unique transactions
  • Assist with various special projects and correspond with tax authorities concerning notices
  • Assist with the detail review of items prepared by Tax Accountants
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from a four-year college or university
  • 5-7 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with One Source tax software is preferred
  • Significant experience with the preparation of various tax returns and a willingness to begin detail review is preferred
  • Insurance industry and ASC 740 experience is preferred
  • Achievement-oriented and self-motivated individual with strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously and accept a significant amount of responsibility
  • Organized and able to work independently without close supervision
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Professional demeanor and ability to work effectively with other departments and company personnel
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Strong workpaper techniques and proficiency with current accounting and specialized tax computer applications
  • Enthusiastic and willing to learn
  • Ability to oversee one or more processes
  • Ability to apply common sense
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or progress towards passing the exam is preferred
Physical and Environmental Requirements

The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

While performing the duties of the job, the associate is required on a daily basis to analyze and interpret data, communicate, and remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the workday and frequently access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices.

The associate is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. The associate must frequently move up to 10 pounds and occasionally move up to 25 pounds.

Travel Requirements

20% travel is required for this role.
