Medical Assistant

At UnityPoint Health, we are seeking a skilled and compassionate RN, LPN, or Certified Medical Assistant to join our Lakeview Family Medicine team. As a vital member of our healthcare team, you will play a crucial role in assisting healthcare providers with patient care, managing administrative tasks, and ensuring the smooth operation of the clinic.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments.
- Accurately record patient histories, vital signs, and symptoms in the electronic medical records (EMR) system.
- Prepare exam rooms by ensuring they are clean, organized, and stocked with necessary medical supplies.
- Administer medications, injections, and vaccines as directed by healthcare providers.
- Perform routine lab tests, including blood draws, urinalysis, and other point-of-care testing.
- Educate patients on preventive care, medication instructions, and follow-up care plans.
- Assist with scheduling follow-up appointments, managing referrals, and coordinating patient care.
- Support front desk operations, including patient check-in/check-out and answering phone calls.
- Adhere to infection control, safety, and HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and clinic safety.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other team members to ensure a seamless patient experience.
Qualifications:
- Current RN/LPN licensure, State of Iowa, or current national certification as a medical assistant.
- High school diploma.
- BLS and mandatory reporter certification.
