Cell Biology Research Intern

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Cell Biology Research Intern to join our team at Gilead Sciences. As a research intern, you will contribute to high-impact projects that advance our company's mission to cure cancer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recombinant protein expression in mammalian cells
- Protein purification and analytics
- Antibody/protein conjugations
- Biophysical and biochemical protein characterization
- Method development to implement new technologies to accelerate and improve protein production and characterization processes
- Detailed documentation and record keeping
- Effective communication of plans and results in both oral and written form
- Coordination of tasks across multiple projects, demonstrating prioritization and planning
- Showcase your work with a final presentation (PPT) near the conclusion of your internship
Basic Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must have a minimum GPA of 2.8
- Authorized to work in the United States without Sponsorship now or in the future or CPT/OPT through your University
- Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited U.S. based university or college and enrolled in the fall semester after the completion of the internship
- Must be enrolled in an advanced degree program
- Must be able to complete a 10-12 consecutive week internship between May and August
- Must be able to relocate if necessary and work at the designated site for the duration of the internship
Preferred Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Cell Biology, Biochemistry or related fields
- Experience in recombinant protein expression and/or protein purification (hand-on or theory)
- Ability to perform various analytical methods, such as SDS-PAGE, Western blot, UPLC/HPLC for analytical SEC, DLS or others
- Strong organizational skills and online record keeping
- Working on site in the lab
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite
- Ability to identify issues and seek solutions
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusion and diversity in the workplace
- Efficient, organized, and able to handle short timelines in a fast-paced environment
