About the Role:

We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Medical Health Technician to join our team at Interim HealthCare in Plantation, FL.

Job Summary:

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to work as part of our interdisciplinary mental health team, providing care to mentally impaired or emotionally disturbed patients.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Patient Support: Provide support to patients in participating in educational, recreational, and therapeutic activities as defined in their individualized treatment plans.
  • Medication Administration: Administer medications as permitted by state law or regulation, and in accordance with our policies and procedures.
  • Group Facilitation: Lead or facilitate group sessions as deemed qualified and assigned, in accordance with our policies and procedures.
  • Patient Safety: Respond appropriately to patient aggression or violence under the direction of the supervising nurse or licensed physician and in accordance with our policies and procedures.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate any physical or behavioral changes in the patient's condition to the physician, team leader, or supervising nurse.
  • Care Provision: Provide hands-on care to patients with a wide variety of psychiatric and medical conditions.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient interactions and responses in accordance with our policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent; Associate's Degree in biological, social, or behavioral science preferred and required by contracting employer.
  • Experience: One (1) year experience working as a mental health tech in a hospital, community mental health center, or alcohol/drug program, or psychiatrist's office.
  • Licensure/Certification: Licensure, certification, or registration, as required by state law/regulation and as required by the contracting employer.
  • Training: Evidence of current Basic Life Support (BLS) training including adults, children, and infants, or as required by the contracting employer.
