We are seeking a highly skilled School Nurse to join our team at Katy Independent School District (TX). The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional healthcare services to students and staff.

Job Summary:

The School Nurse will function as a healthcare provider and manager in the school setting, implementing and maintaining a comprehensive health program that advocates for the health rights of children and promotes an optimal level of wellness for students, staff, and the community.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, plan, intervene, and evaluate student health concerns, including physical and mental health needs and injuries.
  • Maintain, evaluate, and interpret cumulative health data to accommodate individual needs of students.
  • Provide health assessments, including screenings, for health factors impacting student education.
  • Provide chronic disease management and education, including training and supervising designated school personnel.
  • Promote and assist in the control of communicable diseases through immunization programs, early intervention, surveillance, reporting, and follow-up of contagious diseases.
  • Directly and indirectly provide health education, health resources, and curriculum recommendations.
  • Participate as the health specialist on school teams and promote a healthy school environment conducive to learning.
  • Provide health counseling for staff and leadership support for staff wellness programs.
  • Coordinate school/community health activities and serve as liaison between school, community, and health care providers.
  • Assist the Health Services Department with developing, evaluating, and revising health policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.

Requirements:

To be considered for this position, candidates must have a Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of three years nursing experience or Associate Degree in nursing with a minimum of five years nursing experience. A current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas and Current BLS Healthcare Provider CPR certification are also required.

Compensation:

The estimated salary range for this position is $73,000 - $93,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
