Job Summary

LaborOne Staffing seeks a highly skilled Structural Steel Installation Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our shipyard crew, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and fabricating various structural steel products in accordance with industry standards and applicable plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform welding on various materials using different processes, including GTAW, SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, and SAW.
  • Lay out, position, fit, and weld structural components, such as flanges, piping supports, and beams, according to supplied fabrication drawings.
  • Set up, troubleshoot, and operate welding machines according to job specifications and welding procedures.
  • Adjust valves, gauges, and flames as needed and handle compressed gas and oxygen cylinders safely.
  • Operate air arc gouger, grinder, and other industry machines, tools, and equipment.
  • Estimate sizes, distances, and quantities, and determine time, costs, resources, or materials needed for a work activity.
  • Inspect subordinate's work for compliance with contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies, and explain and take corrective action as needed.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with previous experience in the field or a related area.
  • Strong working knowledge skills and abilities for the position.
  • Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions, and communicate effectively with management and supervision.
  • Proficient in the safe and efficient use of electrical, hand tools, power tools, and layout tools, as well as measurement tools.
