Job Description

The Building Design Professional will have the opportunity to be part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team of technical experts working on challenging projects in Environment, Industry, Commercial, Transportation, Federal and Water business portfolios.

The primary responsibilities include:

">
  • ">
  • Working with Senior and Project Architects to plan, program, and formulate building design and prepare design presentation and construction contract documents.">
  • Coordination of building design and construction contract documents with architectural and multi-discipline engineering staff.">
  • Mentorship and guidance of junior architectural staff on multi-discipline projects.">
  • Research and participation in the selection of construction materials, technologies, and methodologies for detailing and specifications.">
  • Evaluation of compliance with applicable planning, zoning, and building codes and regulations, including coordination with agencies having jurisdiction.">
  • Collection of background project information and documentation, including as-built data, and field observation as necessary.">
  • Review of technical submittals for projects under construction.">

Required Skills and Qualifications

">

The ideal candidate should possess a bachelor's degree in Architecture or a related field. A Registered Architect (RA) license is required; otherwise, 4 years of experience with 1 year working under an RA or other professional meeting NCARB standards is necessary. Equivalent additional directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a college degree.

CDM Smith offers a competitive salary, estimated at $85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on location and experience. The company also provides hybrid work options, a driver's license requirement, and visa sponsorship availability. CDM Smith reserves the right to require background checks and drug testing for certain positions. All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary. An appropriate and valid driver's license is required.

Skills and Abilities

">

The successful candidate should possess solid technical knowledge and design application skills. Familiarity with Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, rendering software programs, Bluebeam Revu, and basic business office software is desired. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
