About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Asphalt Distributor Operator to join our team at The H&K Group. As a key member of our paving crew, you will be responsible for operating an asphalt distributor and maintaining a high level of workmanship and productivity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate the asphalt distributor in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to OSHA and H&K Safety policies.
  • Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment, including the tack truck and other heavy equipment.
  • Load tack truck oil from tank, fill asphalt and burner tanks, and clean excess asphalt out of tanks.
  • Understand and follow directions from supervisors regarding required work area and emulsion distribution rates.
  • Monitor temperature, heat oil within recommended temperature, and spray oil in designated areas.
  • Perform daily maintenance checks and report any mechanical or safety issues to supervisors.
  • Monitor vehicle performance, fluid levels, and mechanical fitness.
  • Work with the asphalt paving crew when the distributor is not required.
  • Train new employees in the safe and efficient operation of the Tack Truck.
  • Operate other heavy equipment and construction-related duties as required.
Requirements
  • 1 year of experience with tack trucks on highway road construction projects.
  • CDL A or B.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Tanker Truck Endorsement.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3 years of experience with tack trucks on highway road construction projects.
  • Additional heavy and highway experience with tanker trucks, milling machines, and other asphalt or paving equipment and processes.
  • OSHA or other relevant safety certifications.
Work Environment

This role requires occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, high places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and vibration. The noise level is usually moderate.
