Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships

The University of California, Merced seeks a highly skilled and experienced Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships to join our team. As a key member of the Enrollment Management division, this role plays a crucial part in shaping campus financial aid policies and developing strategies for efficient fund utilization.
Key Responsibilities- Advances the departmental mission of providing accessible and inclusive financial aid, student support, and financial wellness services.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, University, and agency regulations in accordance with financial aid policies and programs.
- Collaborates with Enrollment Management Directors to plan enrollment and retention efforts, including reviewing data analytics, developing recruitment strategies, and coordinating anti-melt efforts.
- Manages departmental HR-related activities, such as creating job descriptions, initiating recruitment requests, and hiring decisions.
- Oversees effective funds management activities, including reconciliation, FISAP, operational budget, FWS, and LAEP program administration.
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in a related field and at least 7 years of experience as a permanent Financial Aid Director, Deputy Director, or Associate Director at a university of similar size and scope. Advanced knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations, needs analysis, and packaging is also required.
