About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Communications Therapist to join our team at Woodward Resource Center. This is a full-time position that will play a vital role in supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide indirect and direct services in areas such as dysphagia management and communication.
  • Conduct formal and informal communication evaluations, dysphagia screenings, and augmentative/alternative communication evaluations.
  • Participate in individual reviews and scheduled meetings related to program development and progress.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement programs.
  • Maintain accurate departmental records, reports, and individual materials.
  • Attend professional meetings, workshops, and training sessions to stay current with continuing education requirements.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Licensure as a Speech Pathologist by the Iowa Board of Speech Pathology and Audiology Examiners or possession of a Temporary Clinical License or temporary permit issued by the Board.
  • Proficiency in language acquisition and development, including expertise in diagnostic and evaluative tests and assessment techniques for speech, language, and auditory disorders.
  • Understanding of physical, environmental, and psychological aspects of intellectual disabilities and their correlation with speech and language disorders.
  • Familiarity with treatment techniques aimed at correcting speech and language disorders and enhancing communication skills, adhering to Intermediate Care Facility Mental Retardation standards.
