Job Overview:

We are looking for an Enterprise Architect Principal to join our Cloud Platform team. The successful candidate will have expertise in multiple technology domains and serve as senior technical leadership within the organization.

The ideal candidate will drive the direction of our technology strategy for the Cloud platform, collaborating with CDO leaders and other senior technical leaders to create strategic roadmaps and set priorities.

Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Set the strategy for teams' service offerings in collaboration with technical products and engineering, aligning with technology target state architecture while keeping pace with cloud service providers (CSP) product and feature releases.
  2. Teach, mentor, grow, and advise other domain experts and individual contributors across several teams.
  3. Lead complex programs spanning departments and divisions, acting as a single point of accountability for execution and delivery.
  4. Collaborate and provide leadership in a larger group of technical/engineering leads, Directors, and VPs, owning planning/programs to drive efforts towards defined outcomes aligned with strategic business goals.
  5. A recognized thought leader in current and legacy technologies, including Application Platforms, CI/CD tooling and practices, Integration patterns, or Master Data Management.
  6. Evaluate key architectural patterns, engineering practices, and standards used across the organization, driving adoption in partnership with EA and ESD.
  7. Ensure business department projects align with long-term priorities, connecting projects to strategy.
  8. Apply broader organization, process, and technology opportunities to a business department with an 'innovation mindset.'
  9. Assume a lead role in identifying cross-departmental synergies and dependencies, championing strategies (business and technical).
  10. Incorporate business priorities into enterprise technology strategy.
  11. Partner with teams to identify functional gaps/opportunities, developing roadmaps for addressing these gaps.
  12. Emphasize a quality-obsessed culture, reimagining and establishing metrics and processes to continually elevate quality.
  13. Work independently, delivering results with extreme attention to detail and self-auditing work.
  14. Teach, mentor, and advise other domain experts and junior engineers.
  15. Lead complex programs and act as a single point of accountability.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (preferred). Advance degrees or certifications are a plus.
  • Over 10 years of experience in software engineering, systems engineering, DevOps, or Cloud.
  • Strong relationships with multiple business and technology stakeholders.
  • Effective communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Solid understanding of design patterns and architecture.
  • Ability to influence teams, technology, or business leaders on impactful issues and decisions.
  • Track record of successfully driving impactful improvements to large, complex technology ecosystems over an extended period.
  • Extensive experience with public cloud – AWS or Azure.
  • Certification(s) preferred in cloud space (AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, etc.).
  • Certification(s) preferred in security space (AWS Certified Security – Specialty, CCSP, CISSP, etc.).
Compensation:

We offer a competitive salary ranging from $146,440 to $271,960 annually, depending on qualifications and location.

Northwestern Mutual pays based on a geographic-specific salary structure, considering factors like skills, education, labor market conditions, and other employment circumstances.
