Job Summary

The Quality Engineer will provide critical support to operational and development programs, utilizing engineering and problem-solving skills to deliver zero-defect projects. Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring compliance with GKN Aerospace Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and standards.
  • Providing technical expertise to resolve vendor schedule and quality-related issues.
  • Breaking down technical problems to create products and add value to GKN Aerospace through Zero Defects.
  • Leading positive team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers.
  • Continuously improving production processes by implementing Lean initiatives.
  • Implementing global business processes to create root cause analysis, preventive, and corrective actions to eliminate non-conformances.
  • Leading product development, customer quality requirements management, and first-article development.
  • Leading supplier audits and assessments, managing NCRs generated by audits.
  • Contributing to the continued development of the Quality Management System, ensuring compliance with industry and customer requirements.
  • Communicating and visiting suppliers to resolve quality issues.
  • Ensuring site compliance with customer quality systems through auditing or enabling others to audit and monitor actions and closures of findings or opportunities for improvement.
  • Point of contact for customers on all quality-related topics.
  • Managing the calibration of measuring equipment.
  • Conducting internal periodic quality-related trainings.
  • Collecting and monitoring quality data, recommending and reviewing improvements.
  • Participating in MRB boards and leading bi-weekly quality discussions.
  • Process owner for NADCAP (conventional machining as a special process).
  • Working knowledge of industry and customer self-release programs.
  • Analyzing quality data and generating reports to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborating with engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Participating in root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
  • Providing training and support staff on quality-related matters.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation and records of quality activities.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university or 4 years of equivalent experience.
  • Fluency in English (speaking and reading).
  • Must be a US Citizen.

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing and walking (at least 7 hours a day).
  • Ability to carry and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Bending, squatting, reaching, pushing, and pulling required (at least 2 hours a day).
  • Use of hands for fine dexterity, light, and strong grasping (at least 7 hours a day).
  • 0% - 25% travel to training or suppliers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of quality system models such as ISO 9000, AS9100.
  • Aerospace experience.
  • Experience conducting audits.
  • Customer-facing experience.
  • Basic knowledge of machining.
  • Training and/or experience in Lean tools and techniques (practical problem-solving, A3, PFMEA, and/or Fishbone diagrams).
  • Familiarity with AS9145 APQP process or equivalent.
  • Experience with NADCAP requirements.
