Job Description

We are a leading manufacturer of innovative vehicles, and we're looking for a talented Vehicle Hardware Engineer to join our team.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work on the development of cutting-edge vehicle hardware systems. As a Vehicle Hardware Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the design and development of vehicle hardware systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration, and driving cost reduction and quality improvements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead systems-level sign-off for assigned SET commodities
  • Collaborate with team members and external partners on packaging, weight, cost, quality, labor, timing, and integration from a systems perspective
  • Support functional sign-off and compatibility reviews to deliver all program milestones on-time
  • Drive cross-functional issue resolution, including program, finance, quality, attribute, manufacturing, STA, studio, color & materials sign-off, and suppliers
  • Manage total cost, content, and other attributes within the SET zone
  • Identify opportunity areas for optimization and part reduction
  • Drive cost reduction, weight minimization, and quality improvements
  • Lead the overall optimization of the system
  • Benchmarking of affected systems to drive optimization
  • Coordinate with core teams on system optimization opportunities and manage change
  • Drive SET adherence to systems engineering operating principles
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required
  • 3+ years of experience in systems engineering and design thinking
  • Critical thinking, courage, humility, decisiveness, flexibility, knowledge, vision, and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Demonstrated ability to show initiative and leadership skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build strong, effective relationships with cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in systems engineering or engineering preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in product engineering design environment
  • Demonstrated production launch experience and program management skills
  • Experience in exterior systems, including sheet metal structures/closures, lighting, or ornamentation
  • Strong fundamentals and working knowledge of the cost process and functional-led cost/appearance delivery process
