Orthopedic Care Specialist

At Iowa Orthopaedic Center PC, we are seeking a skilled Radiologic Technologist to join our team. As an Orthopedic Care Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our orthopedic clinic and surgery center.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct patients to exam rooms and obtain patient history and vitals
  • Pull x-rays and MRIs as needed via the computer and upload images brought on CD by patients
  • Assist physicians and x-ray technicians with procedures as requested
  • Prepare patients for injections as directed by physicians
  • Assist patients with dressing, transport, and transfers
  • Assist with cast and splint application and/or removal, remove sutures, staples, apply Steri-Strips, and appropriate bandages/dressings as directed by physicians
  • Accurately schedule and reschedule appointments and follow-up appointments for patients as needed
  • Collect specimens as directed by physicians, do proper paperwork, and deliver specimens to the proper lab
  • Prepare equipment and instruments for autoclave as needed
  • Document information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and prepare paper charts for upcoming appointments by printing information from the EMR and filing appropriately
  • Call patients for upcoming appointments to obtain a history and get items from different facilities as needed
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients, physicians, and other staff
  • Demonstrate awareness and sensitivity to Release of Information Guidelines in regards to clients'/significant others' rights


Requirements:
  • Current RT(R) certificate or degree
  • Current CPR Certification and Mandatory Reporter Certification
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as physician orders, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to document accurately and concisely patient care in the EMR and/or in patients' charts
  • Ability to be on your feet for long periods of time and lift a minimum of 50 pounds
