Job Title: Outdoor Para Educator

Mount Prospect Academy is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Outdoor Para Educator to join our team. As a key member of our education team, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic and personal growth of our students.

Job Summary:

The Outdoor Para Educator will work closely with our education team to ensure the safety and well-being of our students during outdoor programming activities. This includes supervising students during activities such as hiking, rock climbing, and paintball, as well as providing supported instruction and assessment to students as outlined by their Individual Education Plan (IEP).

Responsibilities:
  • Assist educators in providing academic support to students during outdoor programming activities
  • Supervise students during outdoor activities, ensuring their safety and well-being
  • Provide supported instruction and assessment to students as outlined by their IEP
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to stay up-to-date on program developments and best practices
  • Collaborate with the education team to develop and implement individualized education plans for students
  • Assist with behavioral interventions and crisis management as needed
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of student progress and behavior
Requirements:
  • 21 years of age
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Satisfactory background check
  • Associates degree or higher preferred
  • Two years' experience interacting with children/youth, preferably in a camp counselor, coach, or babysitting role
