The Role

Lumen's Facilities Maintenance Engineers play a critical role in ensuring the operational integrity and reliability of our facilities' critical infrastructure equipment. As a Facilities Maintenance Engineer, you will provide 24x7x365 Tier II technical support and troubleshooting assistance to field operations, dispatching vendors and following up on repairs to ensure minimal downtime.

You will also participate as a subject matter expert on task forces or cross-functional projects, advising departments on solutions for technical problems or barriers. Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Tier II support to field technicians and field management in stabilizing emergency situations and reducing dependency on vendor support.
  • Dispatch vendors in ticketing system, follow up on repairs with vendors, and process vendor invoices.
  • Assist field technicians in reducing dependency on vendor support for issues that can be solved internally.
  • Participate as a subject matter expert on task forces or cross-functional projects, advising departments on solutions for technical problems or barriers.
Requirements

We're looking for a highly skilled and experienced Facilities Maintenance Engineer with a strong background in critical infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have:

  • 2+ years of experience working with critical infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management skills with ability to assess project needs and effectively communicate in delegation of complex technical tasks/assignments to team of contractors and vendors.
  • Ability to travel in short notice to provide hands-on assistance with emergency situations. Travel is a requirement of the position.
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
Preferred Qualifications

We're also looking for candidates with:

  • Technical background with experience in a skilled trade.
  • Mechanical or electrical course studies and/or certifications.
  • Financial acumen and technical knowledge specifically in managing vendors and interpreting services required, billing for repairs, etc.
Compensation

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.

Location Based Pay Ranges

$63,980 - $85,300 in these states: AR, ID, KY, LA, ME, MS, NE, SC, and SD.
$67,340 - $89,780 in these states: AZ, AL, FL, GA, IN, IA, KS, MO, MT, NM, ND, OH, OK, PA, TN, UT, VT, WV, WI, and WY.
$70,710 - $94,270 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NV, NH, NC, OR, and RI.
$74,070 - $98,760 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DE, DC, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
