As a Veterinary Medical Officer at the US Army, you will be part of a team responsible for providing top-notch veterinary care to privately-owned animals. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and make a real difference in the lives of these animals and their owners.
Salary Information
The salary for this position is competitive and based on experience. The hourly rate ranges from $45.52 to $57.50 per hour, which translates to an annual salary of approximately $95,000 to $120,000. Please note that the salary may vary depending on your qualifications and location.
About the Role
In this role, you will serve as the clinic veterinarian, performing wellness appointments, examining animals, treating diseases and injuries, conducting surgeries, and performing administrative duties such as maintaining medical records. You will also collect body tissue, feces, blood, urine, and other body fluids for examination and diagnostic testing, and provide direction and oversight to Animal Health Assistants with regards to veterinary nursing skills and animal care.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be eligible for this position, you must possess a degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree obtained at a school or college of veterinary medicine accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association Council on Education (AVMA). You must also have a valid unrestricted state license to practice veterinary medicine and be able to lift 40 pounds and perform long periods of standing, restraining, kneeling, reaching, and sitting.
