Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Medication Aide to join our team at Maple Ridge Manor.

Estimated Salary: $45,000 - $55,000 per year

About the Role

This is a key position that requires strong leadership skills and the ability to work independently. As a Medication Aide, you will be responsible for coordinating resident care related to medications, working with all departments, medical community, families, and administrative staff to ensure continuity of care and adherence to the scope of practice and licensure.

You will provide complete supervision of the medication room, pass techniques, documentation, and provision of care related to medication in the community.

The community has a minimum of one Medication Aide on each shift.

Key Responsibilities
  • Resident charts: Keeping documentation current (Community forms, licensing documentation, physician orders, incident reports, etc.)
  • Communicate resident status changes to Lead Med Aide or Health and Wellness Director.
  • Ensure all medication documentation is current and correct in E-MAR before administering.
  • Ensure medication cart is completely stocked with all required continuous, PRN, Over-the-Counter (OTC), and other medications as ordered by the physician.
  • Coordinate medication orders and deliveries with pharmacies; reordering medications on a weekly basis and as needed.
  • Communicate with physicians and other healthcare providers as needed, including reporting falls, injuries, and/or changes in resident status.
  • Monitor Psychotropic med use is congruent with physician orders and ensuring resident behaviors actually warrant the use of medication.
  • Control medication room access and key assignment.
  • Pour, pass, and assist with administration of medications in accordance with state regulations.
  • Provide mentorship for new Medication Aides.
