Job Overview

Role Summary

As a Phlebotomist I at UNC Health Care, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of blood specimen collection for analysis. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with healthcare providers and patients to address phlebotomy service issues.
2. Maintain high standards of quality and accuracy in work.
3. Investigate and resolve problems with equipment, patient results, specimens, and workflow.
4. Participate in teams or special projects/assignments as needed.
5. Provide training and education to new employees, phlebotomy students, and other healthcare providers.
6. Review test results for accuracy and report errors or corrections to healthcare providers.
7. Perform phlebotomy procedures, quality control, and equipment maintenance in the laboratory.
8. Ensure completion of daily work and assigned tasks, monitoring laboratory operations.

Requirements:
1. High school graduate or equivalent.
2. Completion of an approved Phlebotomy training program.
3. Eligibility for registry by ASCP or ASPT.
4. On-the-job training for EKGs may be provided.
