Job Title: Security Systems Assistant

About the Position: We are seeking a highly skilled Security Systems Assistant to join our team at the University of Georgia. As a key member of our security team, you will be responsible for participating in security systems and access control related activities to develop proficiency in security systems, locksmithing, and access controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to written and verbal work orders requesting service.
  • Participate in maintenance related activities to develop proficiency in all aspects of security systems, locksmithing, and access control.
  • Accurately cut keys, change core pins, and replace cores in doors.
  • Install, repair, replace, and maintain a variety of locks and associated door hardware in the residential communities.
  • Assist in access control work, including hardware repairs and component replacements.

Requirements:

  • Technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, formal training programs, or on-the-job training.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with staff, residents, and various customer groups.
  • Knowledge of workplace rules and guidelines, including compliance with UGA policies and procedures.

Working Conditions:

  • May work from a ladder or scaffold.
  • May occasionally perform work-related duties outdoors in hot or cold weather conditions.
